Fun and adventure on horseback…What could be better than that?!?


Open to all skill levels, ages 6yrs-adults. Horses and all equipment needed are provided.

During this academy students will work on improving horsemanship skills and gaining confidence in their riding abilities through games, teamwork, and individual challenges. Students also learn how to groom and tack up, learning the parts of the saddle and bridle, as well as learning about their horses.. Respect, self-discipline, and responsibility are just a few of the life skills practiced during classes. See tentative class schedules below.

Little Britches (ages 6-9)
Cost $280 ($40/class for 7 classes)

Young students will learn the basics of leading, grooming, saddling, and riding. Kids will practice listening to and following instructions while gaining an understanding of basic horsemanship skills.
Classes are each 90 minutes long, 6 classes followed by a Family Fun Night at Dusty Trails where families can enjoy watching students ride and show off what they have learned, followed by a campfire cookout with the kids (food provided by Dusty Trails).

Buckaroos (older beginners/intermediate riders)
Students in this class will be working on learning and improving horsemanship skills. Students are grouped by current skill level and are challenged and encouraged throughout classes to advance their knowledge and skills through games and both group and individual tasks. Students will also learn how to saddle and bridle correctly, and begin learning to identify various parts of the saddle and bridle.

Top Hands (intermediate/advanced)
Students in this class will be challenged to take their horsemanship skills to the next level. This class will stress correct body position, clear communication cues with horses, deeper understanding of saddle fit and being able to identify all the components of the saddle and bridle, and gaining confidence in all aspects of riding, all while having fun and making friends!

Buckaroos and Top Hands will have 6 classes (2 1/2-hours each) followed by an all-day outing to ride at Ash Hollow State Park, west of Lake McConaughy. Transportaion and lunch for the outing are provided and included in Academy cost.
Cost $400 ($50/class for 6 classes, $100 for the outing)

Classes will be weekends beginning mid-April through the end of May. Dates and Times TBA. Register now and you will be notified when class schedule becomes available. Payment will be taken the first day of class. We accept card, cash, and check. A cash discount is available.
